Mr. Edward Kushell is an expert in franchises, with decades of experience working with leading franchisors and their franchisees in many different industries. He founded The Franchise Consulting Group in 1978, and as President, has worked with hundreds of companies including Mobil Oil, IBM, Subway, Burger King, Marriott, Prudential, and Greyhound. His company provides a range of franchise consulting services including feasibility studies, development of franchise programs, problem solving for existing franchisors, litigation consulting, international franchising, expansion strategies, evaluation of franchisee relations, franchise financing.
Mr. Kushell has been retained as an expert witness by more than eighty companies – both franchisors and franchisees – in franchise and distribution litigation, covering a wide array of issues including encroachment, vicarious liability, good faith and fair dealing, terminations, non-performance, sub-franchising, advertising programs, misrepresentation, restrictive covenants, and multiple brand franchisors. Previously, Mr. Kushell was President of Dunhill Personnel Systems, a franchised network of 400 personnel agencies located throughout the United States and Canada. For 15 years, he was actively involved in all aspects of franchising including development of the franchise program, creation of all franchise agreements, training, operations, ongoing franchisee support, advertising, franchise sales and marketing, finance and accounting. Mr. Kushell is a past President of the International Franchise Association. He has since served on the Board of Directors of several franchise companies, including Century 21 Real Estate Corporation, PIP Printing, Entré Computer Centers and Protocol Message Management Centers (a Bell Canada subsidiary).
